Northern Soul - Scratchy - Travis Wammack

I think I mentioned Northern Soul, I really wanted to lead in with this, however having heard this at a disco I was compelled to own a copy of this. It took me years to get it, non of this download stuff or YouTube, it was scour the rare record shops in the hope that they could get you a copy.

I was extremely lucky with this, I knew at the time this piece of vinyl was exchanging hands for at least £80 at Wigan Casino, £80.00 phew, considering my first take home pay in 1976 was £16.01 per week, that was a serious amount of money. I was talking to a guy that came to my place of work at the time and it was by chance I found out he did disco's and had decided to pack it all in. I asked him if he had heard of Scratchy, low and behold the very next day he produced a copy and promptly gave it to me.

Do not think I will ever part with it even though its not as valuable as it once was, its just a tune that has stuck with me. Never been able to really dance to it though, don't even go there!

There is a bit in this record that is obviously recorded backwards, just really have not got a clue what that is all about?

Phew, will be revisiting this page a few times, hope you enjoyed this as much as me however I seem to remember most of my friends thinking it was rubbish, each to there own.
