Having shared my all time favorite Northern Soul tune "Scratchy" with you I had better explain how I was first introduced to this kind of music back in the seventies. A few of the lads used to effectively doss during the pleasant summer evenings in the local park in Hill Top West Bromwich and happened to know the son of the park keeper (I think), I remember him playing one tune, this tune was played a fair bit and we used to do some strange pretend locking of a door with a key and then tossing it over the shoulder. I think that about explains it, it's also one record I never owned either, that was until I recently found it on a CD compilation.
So here is to the guy that first introduced me to Northern Soul (called him Scad, don't think I ever knew his real name and I have not seen him since), but cheers
