Al Capone - Prince Buster Black Pepper - Heavy Jeff

Oh gawd the school disco, Friday night could not come fast enough, strange how I remember a great deal from those days, must have been the lack of booze I suppose. I was high school between in the early seventies.,

Two records that I owned remind me of these innocent nights in the gym of Hill Top High School in West Bromwich. These were both bough well after that period.

Al Capone, in my opinion an all time Ska anthem by the king of Ska Prince Buster  this one  popped up again being covered sort of by the Special,s called Gangsters.

Black Pepper I didn't hear for a few years after leaving school until I used to tour the local working men's clubs with a mate that owned a Disco (RK's Disco), Ray and Kev believe it or not. Anyway I was sort of a roadie and helped hump the stuff into position (free access). The one venue, "The Civil Defence Club" tucked away in a back street in Wednesbury always booked  alternate DJ,s fortnightly, the other disco was called, yep you've guessed it "Black Pepper" and this is what he always opened too.

I hope you enjoy this as much as I do,
