Stand & Deliver - Adam & the Ants

1980's, what can i say. There is so much stuff I liked during this period and really because I was constantly out and about on the town I had sort of lost my passion for buying vinyl which was a great shame.

Good old Adam Ant, you have to love the 80's stylee eh!

Northern Soul - Black Power

This is another one that I grabbed fairly early on after discovering the sound of Northern Soul, this is by James Coit, Of course these are not on original labels, just love this one and I haven't heard it for ages.

Tom Hawk - The Piranhas

This was the anthem of the summer of 1980 and I remember this being played everywhere you went.

Brings back a few memories of watching West Bromwich Albion too, bit of a chant to the chorus line of "The Villa are sh**t I don't know why but after the match your gonna die", although I stood close to the local vicar that I knew well, so my chanting at various key times was nothing more than a hum, great days indeed.

Hope you like this...

Holiday in the Sun - Sex Pistols

Of course it had to happen, Punk entered my record collection many times throughout the seventies, it all started off with this from the Sex Pistols....

This is them live.....

Ode to Billy Joe - Bobby Gentry

Was waiting around this evening for Beverley as you do and Bob Harris was on Radio 2 and I turned on just as this came on by Bobby Gentry, its a song that somewhere in my past I recall, great lyrics and semi haunting for some reason.. So I am including this on my tunes I hear whilst waiting around list.

Wade in the Water - Ramsey Lewis Trio

This is in my record box, but never belonged to me, but gawd its a great tune. This was my brothers, bet he never thought it was still around. Bit strange really what with all the Jimmy Saville stuff, but this was his radio show start up tune, I remember it so well, soul does not get any better than this.

Here goes.....

Like Adam & Eve - The Reflections

Back to a bit of Northern Soul. This is one of the all time classics, a piece of vinyl I had to own, I actually remember the day I found this in a box of mixed Northern Soul records on a market stall in West Bromwich, that was when you could find a bargain and quite frankly not some knock off DVD's and denim wear. There is a bit in this that always made me wonder if the record was scratched.

This is a real beauty, I hope you enjoy....
